MAJOR ANTIQUES SHOW RETURNS TO
ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA, FOR 13th YEAR
Alexandria, Virginia – Antiques In Alexandria, an antique show featuring 60 of the nation’s top dealers, will return to Flippin Field House at Episcopal High School, 3900 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, Virginia, on March 6 - 8, 2009.   Hours for the show, which is organized each year by more than 100 volunteers to raise money for charity, are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.  There will be a Gala Preview Party on Thursday, March 5 from 7 to 10 p.m.
Antiques in Alexandria features a wide array of fine American, English, Oriental and Continental furniture, silver, porcelain, rugs, paintings, jewelry, clocks, folk art, garden furniture, and other decorative arts.  With 60 nationally-recognized dealers, Antiques in Alexandria has dealers of interest to all collectors and is the largest quality antiques show in the Washington, D.C. area.  Among the dealers exhibiting this year are: Mark & Marjorie Allen;  W. Graham Arader III; Alfred Bullard; Douglas Constant; Malcolm Franklin; Roberto Freitas; and G. Sergeant Antiques.
Special events at this year’s show include:  a book signing by a noted author; workshops on how to conserve your family treasures; a Saturday luncheon lecture; a guided show tour with a decorative arts expert; an appraisal clinic; a grog tasting; and a loan exhibition, entitled “Anchors Away.” 
Proceeds from ticket sales and special events benefit three Alexandria charities:  The TWIG, the junior auxiliary of INOVA Alexandria Hospital; The Lyceum Co., the support organization for Alexandria’s history museum; and The Alexandria Association, which is dedicated to historic preservation and fostering appreciation of the decorative arts.  Show admission is $15 per person, and includes re-entry and a show catalog.  Parking at the show is free and, during show hours, there is a cafe and a bar.  For additional information, please visit www.antiquesinalexandria.com or call 703-548-SHOW.
